Compensation: $20-22/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Part-time, 8-10 hrs to start, 15-20 hrs during holiday season

Flutter Butter Bakery is a Brooklyn-based bakery known for its artfully crafted pastries, specialty treats, and dedication to high-quality, gluten-free baking. We are seeking one skilled Baker to join our team in a part-time capacity. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong culinary background who are passionate about artisanal baking, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a creative and collaborative kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily production of pastries, baked goods, and specialty items in adherence to Flutter Butter Bakery’s recipes and quality standards.
  • Support mise en place, including scaling ingredients, preparing doughs, batters, fillings, and other components.
  • Follow gluten-free baking protocols to ensure product integrity and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the kitchen, adhering to NYC Department of Health food safety regulations.
  • Assist with kitchen prep, cleaning, and closing duties, including dishwashing and sanitization of workstations.
  • Monitor ingredient inventory levels and communicate shortages or needs to management.
  • Assist with packaging, labeling, and organizing orders for pick-up and delivery as needed.
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.
  • Adhere to all kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • NYC Food Handlers Certification (Required).
  • 2–5 years of professional kitchen or culinary experience (Required).
  • Pastry experience preferred, particularly in gluten-free baking.
  • Culinary school education preferred but not required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; must be comfortable standing, moving, and working on feet for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes with precision.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-energy environment.
  • Comfortable working early mornings or evenings, depending on production needs.
  • Proficiency in English or French is preferred to support effective kitchen communication.
  • A passion for pastry, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn and grow within a creative baking environment.
